She's Good to Go...

Our Maggie leaves for college this weekend as she heads to Auburn University. War Eagle! When Susan and I married, Maggie was 12 and my how those years have gone by. Jeffrey Steele wrote a song called She's Good to Go. I think it sums up how I feel about this experience. Good luck Mags, I know you will have a blast. Here are the words to the song.

She's Good to Go
A little purple Ford, about to bust,
Completely stuffed,
With CD's, clothes and a bunch of old junk.
Her little sister can't understand why she's leaving us.
Her other sister says: "Shut up."
And baby brother's busy playing with his trucks.

Chorus
Oo-oh, she's good to go, on her own.
Momma, hold your tears 'til she disappears:
My God, our baby's grown.
Oo-oh, she's gonna be all right,
She'll make a life,
Somewhere out there,
Just how or where,
She doesn't care:
She only knows,
She's good to go.

From Fifteen to seventeen, I think she spoke two words,
That I never heard.
But I'm sure it had to do with something she disagreed with.
Tonight at dinner, there'll be an empty chair,
And a Daddy's prayer,
Asking for a little more faith to believe that:

Chorus

I close my eyes and I see her in diapers on her rockin' horse.
Sellin' lemonade;
First bike; first grade; first date; prom night.
Now she's in the drive, wavin' goodbye.

Chorus
